会社が終わった後に、たまに上司や同僚と飲み会をします。僕は子供がまだ小さいので、先に帰らせてもらうということをみんなに飲み会の前に言っておきます。そうすると早めに帰りやすいです。僕が会社に入ったばかりの時は、１次会の後に２次会や３次会まで行くのが当たり前でした。しかし今は社会全体が変わってきています。「パワハラ」とか「アルハラ」という言葉も聞かれるようになりました。上司が自分の権力を使って部下に何かを強制したり、お酒を飲ませたりすることは悪いことだと言われるようになりました。まあ、僕の会社は元々そんなに悪い雰囲気はありませんでしたけどね。あまり遅くなると妻も大変だし、僕も体力がなくなってきたので、２時間ぐらい飲んだら帰るようにしています 。
みんなが集まる飲み会では初めにビールを頼みます。最近は生ビールを頼む人が多いですが、うちの会社ではまずビールを瓶で頼みます。そして、お互いのグラスにビールを注いであげます。ビールを注ぐ時は「アサヒ」とか「キリン」とか書いてあるラベルの部分を上にしなければならないって、知っていましたか。注いでもらう方はコップを両手で持ちます。最初はそんなの知らなくて、先輩に怒られたなあ。今、こんなことで後輩を叱ったら、「パワハラ」って言われるかもしれません。全員注ぎ終わったら、乾杯をします。いくらのどが乾いていても、乾杯する前に勝手に飲んではいけません。
タバコも上司が吸ったら、そのあとで吸います。仲のいい会社ですが、そういう細かい礼儀は大事にしています。取引先の人とお酒を飲むこともあるので、そういうマナーを部下にも少しずつ優しく教えていきます。僕はお酒が弱いので、2、3杯しか飲めません。グラスからビールが無くなる前に、みんながお酒を注いできます。あまり飲むと帰れなくなるので、いつもビールをグラスに半分以上残しておきます。それでも盛り上がると、酔っ払って帰る時間を忘れるときがあります。遅くなってしまったときは妻のためにコンビニでケーキを買って帰ります。帰ると妻は怒っていますが、ケーキを出すと、少しマシになります。

Nomikai – JLPT N4
After work, sometimes there is a nomikai with my boss and coworkers. I tell everyone before the nomikai that I’m going to go home before everyone else because I have a small child. Then it’s easier to leave early. When I first joined the company, I was expected to go to a second and third place to drink afterwards. But now society is completely changing. I hear phrases like “power harassment” and “alcohol harassment.” They say it’s bad for a boss to use his authority to force his subordinates to drink. Well, my company’s environment was never that bad. It’s hard on my wife if I get home too late, and I’m also not as young and strong as I used to be, so I try to go home after about 2 hours.
When we get together for a nomikai, first we order beer. Recently, many order draft beer, but our company gets it by the bottle. Then we pour into each other’s glasses. Did you know that when you pour beer, you have to position the label, “Asahi” or “Kirin” on top? And if someone is pouring for you, you hold the cup with both hands. At first, I didn’t know that, and I was lectured by my boss. Now, if you scold someone below you for this, you might be accused of “Power Harassment.” When everyone has finished pouring, we toast. No matter how thirsty you are, you don’t drink before the toast.
If your boss smokes, you smoke after he does. Although we are all very close, we respect these minute rules. We sometimes drink with clients, so I patiently teach these customs to my subordinates. I’m a lightweight, so I can’t drink but two or three glasses. Everyone is pouring another before mine is empty. I always leave my glass more than half-full because I won’t make it home if I drink too much. Once in a while, I get carried away and get drunk, and I forget when it’s time to go home. If I get home late, I’ll buy a cake at a convenience store for my wife. My wife is angry, but the cake makes things a little better.
僕の大切な家族 – JLPT N4
僕には子供が二人います。娘と息子が一人ずつです。娘は３歳で、息子は10か月です。妻の仕事のために、娘は１歳の時から保育園に行っています。でも、今度は息子が生まれたので、妻はまた仕事を休んでいます。
娘も息子もとてもかわいいです。娘はまだ３歳ですが、よく話します。保育園で友達と遊んだことや食べたものなど、色々なことを話してくれます。ひらがなも少し読めるようになりました。僕が子どもの時は小学生になってからひらがなを覚えたのに、最近の子どもは色々なことをとても早く習います。
息子はまだ１０か月ですが、大きくなったらサッカー教室に通わせたいです。僕も妻もあまり背が高くないので、きっと息子も背が高くならないでしょう。でも、サッカーなら背が低くても、努力すれば活躍できると聞きました。一緒に公園で練習をしたり、サッカーの試合を見に行ったりするのが夢です。妻には「まだ赤ちゃんなのに、そんなことを考えるなんて早すぎない？」と言われました。

My Dear Family
I have two children: a daughter, and a son. My daughter is 3 and my son is 10 months old. Because of my wife’s work, my daughter has been going to nursery school since she was 1. However, since my son was born, my wife has been on maternity leave.
My daughter and son are very cute. My daughter is three years old, and she’s a talker. She talks a lot about playing with her friends what she eats at nursery school. She’s starting to read hiragana a little. I learned hiragana at elementary school when I was a kid, but nowadays kids learn these things very early.
My son is still only 10 months, but I want him to take football lessons when he gets older. My wife and I are not very tall, so my son probably won’t be either. But with soccer, they say you can excel with effort, even if you are short. My dream is to practice at the park with my son and go to see football matches together. My wife just asks, “He is still a baby, isn’t it a bit too early to think about that?”
週末は家族サービス – JLPT N4
毎日、仕事は忙しいです。でも、一か月に一回、週末に家族と一緒に出かけるようにしています。週末に家でごろごろばかりしていると、妻がイライラしてしまいますからね。その時はだいたい車で出かけます。小さい子供がいると、荷物が多くなりますから車の方が便利なんです。先月は日光に紅葉を見に行くことにしました。日光に行く途中、道が渋滞していたので、４時間ぐらいかかってしまいました。妻は運転免許を持っていますが、ペーパードライバーです。だから、運転するのはいつも僕の仕事です。僕は運転するのが好きです。
日光はとてもきれいでした。赤や黄色になった木の葉を見て、子供も「葉っぱ、きれい」と言っていました。みんなで写真を撮ったり、おいしいものを食べたりしました。仕事は毎日大変です。でも、家族と一緒に出かけると、ストレスが発散できます。できるだけ、色々なところに遊びに行きたいです。

Weekends are for Family Service
Work is always busy. However, I try to take my family somewhere once a month on weekends. If I lie around at home on weekends, my wife gets irritated. Usually, we will drive somewhere. Taking the car is more convenient with a small child because we have lots of luggage. We went to see autumn leaves in Nikko last month. On the way to Nikko, the road was congested, and it took almost 4 hours. My wife has a driver’s license, but no real driving experience. Therefore, driving is always my job. I like to drive.
Nikko was beautiful. Looking at the turning leaves of red and yellow, my kids also agreed and said they were beautiful. We all took pictures and ate delicious food. My work is hard. But when I go out with family, I de-stress. As much as possible, I like going on these trips.
海外旅行？国内旅行？- JLPT N4
僕は旅行代理店で働いているので、旅行に行く時、飛行機のチケットやホテルなどが安く予約できます。子どもが産まれる前は妻と一緒に色々な国に旅行に行きました。最後の海外旅行はシンガポールの近くにあるビンタン島でした。会社の同僚が勧めてくれたホテルに泊まりました。そのホテルは海の近くにあって、窓からきれいな海が見えました。とても素晴らしかったです。ビーチでのんびり過ごしたり、バーでお酒を飲んだりしました。今は子どもがいるので、そんなことはできません。飛行機に乗って、どこかに行くのは大変です。
去年、僕のふるさとの広島に帰った時、飛行機に乗りました。初めて飛行機に乗ったうちの子どもは静かに座っていられませんでした。それで、周りの人達に迷惑かけてしまいました。今度は新幹線で帰るつもりです。子どもが産まれる前は国内旅行より海外旅行のほうが好きでした。でも、今は国内旅行も楽しいなあと思います。行ったことがない場所がたくさんあります。子どもが大人になるまでに、日本の４７都道府県の全部に行ってみようと思っています。

International or Domestic Travel
I work for a travel agency, so I can book inexpensive airline tickets and hotels. Before my child was born, my wife and I travelled overseas to several different countries. Our last trip was to Bintan Island near Singapore. We stayed at a hotel recommended by my colleague. The hotel was near the ocean and we had a beautiful view. It was wonderful. We laid on the beach and drank at the bar. We can’t do that now because we have children. It’s hard to just jump on an airplane and go somewhere.
Last year, we flew back to my hometown in Hiroshima. It was my daughter’s first time on a plane and she just could not sit quietly. I am sure we bothered everyone around us. I am going to take the shinkansen next time. Before my children was born, I preferred traveling abroad rather than domestic travel. But now I’m also enjoying travelling in Japan. There are many places I have never been to. I am trying to visit all 47 prefectures in Japan before my kids grows up.
